OMC Society of St Vincent de Paul
Inspired by the Gospel, the men and women of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering. Our members and volunteers work directly with families in our surrounding area, providing emotional, spiritual, practical, and financial support during emergencies, preventing families from becoming homeless by covering past due rent or electric bills. After receiving a call from our hotline, a referral from the Parish Office or a local social service organization, we meet with a family to understand their needs, and then determine how we can best help them get back on their feet. We also provide food staples to our clients and to soup kitchens in the area from our Parish food pantry, stocked by contributions from parishioners. We regularly visit the elderly and homebound and each year SVdP collects gently used clothing and household goods which are donated to families in need through GreenDrop’s network of local thrift stores or to shelters in Camden. Please consider joining or contributing to SVdP at OMC for the chance to provide hands-on help to persons in need in Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy, and other surrounding communities. You can make a difference in your community in a very tangible way!
