First Penance & Eucharist |

The reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is an occasion of great celebration in the life of a Catholic Family. Our Mother of Consolation Parish desires to support both Parents/Guardians and children in this unique moment of grace. To do so we invite Parent and Family participation in a variety faith activities ~ Parent Sacrament Forum, Family Retreats, catechetical lessons, and Presentation of Candidates ~ all events which lead to the celebration of the Sacraments.
Archdiocesan guidelines for First Reconciliation require children be prepared for, and be given the opportunity to celebrate, the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to the reception of First Eucharist. Two consecutive years of preparation immediately prior to the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Eucharist are required. Presently, we celebrate these sacraments in Grade 2.
Sacrament Requirements include:
+ Weekly Participation in Mass
+ Registration in Our Mother of Consolation Parish
+ A copy of the Child's Baptismal Certificate
+ Readiness to receive the Sacrament
+ Parent/Guardian participation in the Sacrament Forum, Parent Meetings, and Retreat Days.
Children are prepared for the Sacraments through the Catholic Archdiocesan Schools, Catholic Private Schools, Our Mother of Consolation PREP (Parish Religious Education Program), or Home School. Parents must notify the Director of their desire to have their child celebrate these sacraments by September 30 of the year preceding the reception of First Penance and First Eucharist in the following Spring.
