Teen Ministry Monthly Update- December 21, 2022
Dear parents,
Happy last few days of Advent. As we near the end of a long Advent I pray that this Christmas season is filled with grace and joy for you and your family. Teen ministry finished up the second Sunday night series which focused on Isaiah, which makes up many of the mass readings during Advent. In January we will begin our third topic which will include some new things as well. As we start the new year, we do need people to sign up for dinner. Please consider providing an entire dinner or parts of a dinner. We typically have 10-15 teens each week. We will also have a Christmas party during the Octave of Christmas (Parent Chaperons with clearances are needed). Please check out the all the pertinent details below. God bless!

Throughout the year we try to have some events that are purely fun. The Christmas party is one of those events. It's a great opportunity for teens who are not involved to come and meet some of the leaders and other teens. The Christmas party will include:
College Age Get Together- Sat. Jan 7th, 5:00pm at the Cillos
Over Thanksgiving break our college age parishioners were invited over for dinner as well as some young adults in the parish. It was an opportunity to reconnect and also meet other parishioners close to their age. We will have another dinner over Christmas break.

- Chick-fil-a dinner
- White Elephant gift exchange (bring a $20 gift)
- Gingerbread house contest
- Christmas themed games
- Prizes
- Christmas movie to be decide

Group Me group chat
We have created a group chat using groupme. This app allows us to connect with teens and to connect them with each other while keeping personal information (cell phone numbers) private. The groupme has several adult leaders in it as well as a parent to monitor it.
Sunday Night Update
Starting in January we will begin a 7 week series on prayer. During this series teens will learn about prayer, different ways of praying, and will also receive a prayer journal. This series is meant to help the teens put what we learn into practice.

Attendance Raffle
Since our Sunday gatherings are divided into series, ideally teens would be able to attend the whole series to get the most out of it. For our prayer series, teens will receive a raffle ticket for each session they attend. They can also get an extra ticket if they bring someone who has not been before. At the end of the series we will draw two winners to win a $25 and $50 gift card.
Leader testimonies
Starting in January our leaders will share part of their stories during the last 15 minutes of dinner. Each leader will have a designated night and teens will be able to ask questions afterwards. The goal is allow the teens to hear about why God and our faith are important to us and why we each have decided to be teen ministry mentors. Part of the goal of teen ministry is to connect teens with faithful adults so that they can encounter living faith. We hope this sharing will also lead to the teens being more open with their own sharing

Camp Veritas August 12th-17th
Mark your calendars for Camp Veritas August 12th-17th for high school students going into 10th, 11th, and 12th. Cost $500 plus transportation costs. Registration will begin in the 2023. Learn more here.
